I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.
I was using an Intel-based 16” MacBook Pro prior to this and the difference is night and day. I've never heard the fans turn on a single time, even under the relatively heavy.
The first standing desk I've owned. I don't think I can go back. I prefer a lighter color desk and went with bamboo.
The first 2K display I've ever owned. If you like to game and like to have multiple documents up on each monitor, this is a monitor for you. Since 4K gaming monitors are expensive and hard to get performance above 60 fps, I found these to be a nice sweetspot.
A well built open source mechanical keyboard, with a built-in USB hub. What's not to love!
I'm working on my posture at home while I'm in the office. This was a treat for myself after my first Thermal Vacuum Test Campaign (a part of ground testing for satellites that ensures the system works in a vacuum without convection).
I'm a big fan of the remote SSH extension. I like the themes and ability to refactor easily. There are more sophisticated editors without the need for extensions, but this does the job for me.
A fast terminal for MacOS, built with Rust and has a variety of color schemes to choose from.
